Wood Street Commons is an apartment building in Downtown Pittsburgh with over 250 Single Room Occupancy units servicing low-income individuals. CHS partners with the Residences of Wood Street to provide shelter, permanent housing and respite room to program participants. CHS provides support services directly in the building. Community Support Specialists work with program participants collaboratively, focusing on empowerment by addressing health, housing, employment and life skills.

CHS also offer activities to residents. Most participants come directly form street homelessness or overnight shelters into Wood Street Commons. CHS practices harm reduction and places no prerequisities on participants entering into shelter or housing programs. CHS staffwork with nearly 100 participants in the building. Additionally, CHS provides a medical office with nursing support and connection to mental health services.
