Children, Youth, and Family Programs

CHS provides direct service to youth in navigating complex social service systems in our Independent Training Program. Individuals with prior child welfare involvement are screened at intake for agency services inclusive of physical and behavioral health services, transportation, housing, utility assistance, in home services, employment counseling, food assistance, wellness activities, child development support for parents and children, social rehabilitation, and medication management.

CHS also facilitates housing and basic needs assistance for individuals in our Independent Living program that benefit from these additional supportive services while completing their post-secondary education goals.

Our Goals: 
We aim to ensure sustainability for our participants by providing services to youth in life transition through complex resource coordination, enhanced life skills training, housing support, and behavioral health linkages.
Who We Serve: 
Individuals ages 18-24 years who have experienced involvement within the child welfare system.
CYF programs have assisted participants in identifying and reaching their goals related to stabilization and personal growth. Those served are connected to community supports and resources to assist them to transfer from out of care to live independently as adults.
CHS has been partnering with CYF for five years on various programs to ensure a rich and full service package is delivered to youth in transition with a variety of unique and complex needs.

Homeless Children’s Education Fund, Kids Voice, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, YouthWorks, ACTION-Housing MyPlace Program, FamilyLinks, The Bridge of Pittsburgh, Hill House Association, and Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council.
How to Apply: 
Our CYF programs receive referrals directly from Children, Youth, and Families as well as internally through our Intake and Coordinated Assessment located in Uptown on the first floor of 1945 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Walk-in hours are: Monday 11 am to 5 pm, Wednesday 9 am to 4 pm, and Friday 9 am to 4 pm.
