Food Pantry

We believe that every person deserves access to healthy food.

With that sentiment, we provide individuals and families with fresh fruits and vegetables, non-perishable food items, access to dairy products, and choices of meat or fish. Understanding that the food we eat affects our health, the food pantry focuses on low-sodium, low-sugar foods. We are one of the busiest food pantries in Allegheny County. Offered is a unique ‘shop around’ experience, where customers can select for themselves what they want to take home. This way clients leave with food they will be sure to use. Besides fighting hunger, our food pantry also offers nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, medication management consultation, nursing services, and sexual health resources to address a variety of medical needs.

The Food Pantry is open:
every Thursday from 3PM - 6PM, and
every Friday from 11AM - 2PM.

Customers can access the pantry one time each month. If it is your first time to the CHS Food Pantry, please bring a valid form of identification. We also recommend bringing your own shopping bags to transport food, if you have them. We do re-use boxes from our food donations, however they do sometimes run out.

The CHS Food Pantry embodies two of our core values - Respect and Quality. We want to make sure those facing a hunger crisis are served quality, healthy food. We also treat everyone who visits the CHS Food Pantry with respect. Our space is intended to be a safe place without judgment for all staff, volunteers, and clients. We are all neighbors, so please visit us if you are facing a hunger crisis.
