Who We Are
The food pantry was founded in 2009 when CHS had been seeing increases in food insecurity amongst program participants and neighbors. We welcome people from all circumstances to join us for our food distributions. Our pantry believes in providing customers with what they feel meets their needs best. Every person accessing our space has a choice in everything that they select, and we always provide an abundance of fresh, local produce. A family of three receives approximately $92 worth of groceries from the pantry each month which can significantly ease financial stress.

We are need of volunteers throughout the summer to assist with food distribution during hours of operation.
We work to provide the best customer experience possible for the individuals and families that visit the pantry, and volunteers are critical for making this happen.  A shift at the pantry could range from sorting and distributing food items, assisting customers with paperwork, teaching customers about healthy ways to prepare the food they are receiving, and anything in between! Our staff are more than happy to sign off on anything needed to log your time spent with us. Sign up for your shift to connect people with the food they need through Pittsburgh Cares

Support The Pantry
Keeping the pantry adequately stocked to support the nearly 2,000 customers seen each month requires a great deal of resources. Financial constributions of any size make a tremendous impact on addressing hunger, and are deeply appreciated. Please contact Brooke Sciullo at with questions about how your gift could be used to impact families across Western Pennsylvania.
