Functional Definition: 

The Maintenance and Transportation team ensures that the agency’s housing portfolio, physical spaces, and transportation assets meet the needs of the people we serve and facilitate agency staff in living the organization’s mission. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facilities, equipment and properties at Lawn and Atwood Streets, Beltzhoover Avenue, Liberty Avenue and any other property under CHS portfolio. In addition to performing grounds maintenance the MT will perform monthly inspections and create a maintenance schedule with the Director of Maintenance.  All work will be done in compliance with CHS and OSHA safety rules and regulations to make sure that all facilities meet the needs of both staff and the people we serve. . Full time employment benefits include; Health, Dental, Vision, Generous PTO and Holidays. Life Insurance/STD/LTD, and 401(k) if working over 20 hours per week. The position pays an hourly rate of $14.00

Responsibilities and Duties: 
  • Perform building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary
  • Regularly inspect agency properties and systems, including alarm systems, following agency protocols and schedule repairs in a timely fashion
  • Conduct preventative maintenance measures
  • Perform maintenance on the grounds of agency properties, including but not limited to landscaping and snow removal
  • Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies
  • Purchase equipment and supplies needed for projects with the approval of the Director of Maintenance in accordance with all agency policies and protocols
  • Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol
  • Perform other maintenance duties as requested
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other maintenance personnel, program staff, contractors and residents
  • Must possess the ability to express sensitivity to CHS residents while maintaining personal boundaries
  • Must have adequate experience in general contracting
  • Working knowledge of appliances, tools and household devices
  • Valid PA driver’s license and reliable transportation to access job sites
  • Physically able to climb stairs, repeatedly lift 60lbs and confident working on ladders
  • Good communication skills
