Each year, youth from the Sarah Heinz House conduct the Campaign for Others, a fundraiser to raise awareness and money for local people in need. This year, we're thrilled to announce that the youth at Sarah Heinz House selected Operation Save a Life, our street outreach program. Throughout the month of February, the kids organized a variety of fundraising activities as featured in Pittsburgh Parent magazine.
This week, CHS outreach worker Ben Talik visited Sarah Heinz House to meet the youth and pick up a check for more than $2,500. Ben is pictured above with Sarah Heinz House member Elizabeth Knochel and Bob Bechtold, Director of Community Outreach and Partnerships for Sarah Heinz House.
Ben's work as part of Operation Save a Life includes leading outreach rounds throughout the city's North Side and South Side neighborhoods and visiting drop in centers to connect people who are street homeless with opportunities to access shelter as well as tangible resources to stay safe and healthy. The funds raised by the Campaign for Others will go a long way to providing clothes, food, health, and hygiene items to local people in crisis.
Our deepest thanks to the youth at Sarah Heinz House and everyone who helped to make this campaign such a success!
