With any approaching holiday, we are reminded of how grateful we are to be a part of a nonprofit that provide services to help lift up local Pittsburgh communities, individuals, and families struggling to find stable housing, connect to community resources, build relationships, and access quality food. As we finalize our travel plans and prepare our Thanksgiving meals, let's all take a moment to stop and think about those out there who are not as lucky, and who see Thanksgiving as just another day where they will struggle to make ends meet.
A majority of our clients in the supportive housing programs at Wood Street Commons come to us with nothing. Many are homeless or recurring homeless, and before they are stable enough to search for work or join the community, they have no financial means to purchase goods for themselves. Items that many of us have easy access to and take for granted, like basic hygiene products, new clothes, or even a haircut. These are items that our WSC residents need to help secure job interviews and restore their confidence + dignity. With the changing weather, residents are especially in need of items designed to help them stay warm during the upcoming winter months. Things like blankets, sweatshirts, and thick socks.
Please share our Amazon Wishlist with any friends and family members who want to give back this holiday season. And by using AmazonSmile, portions of your purchases will go towards any nonprofit organization of your choice. Select your favorite or pick CHS so every purchase you make now and into the holidays doubles your impact on the people we serve in Allegheny County. It's an easy way to give back this holiday season, and we invite you to make the season a little brighter for our clients at WSC who may feel that they don't have much to be grateful for.
Thank you and have a happy + safe Thanksgiving holiday,
