Bridging Connections for Better Communities

As we look back on how 2018-2019 shaped our agency, we want to take a moment to thank you for all of your support this past year. Our ability to provide quality, relevant services that respect the immediate needs of the individuals and families we serve could not be possible without your help. By supporting us, you have truly made a difference in the lives of local Allegheny County communities. And that's something to be very proud of. To continue your support of our programs, give a year-end donation today.

Our 2018-2019 Annual Report to the Community is now available, and we encourage you to see how your support has impacted us and our clients during this past fiscal year, beginning July 1, 2018 and ending June 30, 2019. You'll see how we've been able to fully renovate several Oakland apartments to bring home closer to our clients, provide access to fresh food to over 18,000 people from our pantry, establish off site testing and education services through Project Silk to reach more people in the LGBTQIA+ community, and combat the opioid crisis by participating in a state-wide pilot program awarded to select organizations.

As you gather your families together this holiday season, we ask that you think of those who will be celebrating alone, hungry, or worried about what the next day's cold weather will bring. This could be your neighbor, someone from a different community, or a stranger you pass by while driving across town. But to us, they are a part of Pittsburgh. As our organization, we cannot alone change the policies and systems that disproportionately restrict the people we serve from fulfilling their basic needs. But together with our supporters we can build stronger communities. Whether that's providing mental and physical health services for recurring homeless individuals and seniors, early child development to low-income families and single mothers, or healthy food to food-insecure families, we are continuing the mission that CHS was founded on because everyone has value and strong communities make stronger cities.

To help bring some holiday comfort to our clients, please consider making an end-of-year donation so we can keep addressing their immediate needs with our services in 2020

As always, thank you for being a friend of CHS and have a safe, warm beginning to 2020.

Cheers,

Sarah Nesbella
