CHS wins the Coaches' Prize in the 2014 Social Innovation Fast Pitch

SVP Pittsburgh’s Social Innovation Fast Pitch is a two-month program designed to build the capacity of and create visibility for innovative nonprofits in Allegheny County. CHS had the great opportunity to be a finalist in the Fast Pitch, presenting how our eviction prevention programs help families keep their homes and their identity, and took home the Coaches' Prize.

An Evening at Mad Mex

In this freezing winter, we are working to make sure that every person has a safe, and warm, place to call home. Mad Mex Shadyside and the Big Burrito Restaurant Group graciously offered to help by hosting a benefit dinner for CHS on Tuesday, January 28th. Thank you to everyone who joined us for dinner to get to know our staff and board - and helped us raise the resources critical to our work!

Please help us make the holidays happen for 200 children and adults in our area by supporting the 2013 CHS Holiday Gift Drive. Your donations of both money and gift cards help us provide a small gift for a local individual or family using the services of one of our programs

The Home Lost Sew-in

This December 6th, CHS and the United Way of Allegheny County hosted the Home Lost Sew-in. Rather than just learning about homelessness, volunteersactively worked with the Home Lost Project to create eight hand-made quilts for individuals and families in housing crises. Home Lost was created by two local elementary school students who were moved to do something about homelessness in Pittsburgh.
