In the 2015-2016 fiscal year, CHS provided housing assistance services to 518 families, totaling 1,397 people. To celebrate the successes of these families, we've put together a brief report on the impact of the programs, their cost savings, and our plans for the year ahead. A few highlights include:
- 80% of the people we serve stated it was their first time experiencing homelessness - and our programs help it to be their only time.
- 65% of the households we serve are families with minor children. Homelessness for kids leads to lasting educational, employment, health, and mental health impacts, so it is critical that we stop the cycle early.
- Our ESG program stopped 81 families from being evicted, making sure that cycle never even started.
- Our Rapid Re-Housing Program is 91% less expensive than national average transitional housing programs, enabling us to reach even more families in crisis. 87% of those families achieve housing stability, exceeding our goals and the national standards from HUD.
