Oakland Community Food Pantry at CHS

The Food Pantry Specialist supports the maintenance and execution of the CHS Food Pantry food distributions. They provide logistical support, help manage teams of volunteers, and provide excellent customer service to the pantry customers. The Food Pantry Specialist will be responsible for data entry and management using an internal database to track customers served at pantry.  Position is temporary through the end of the fiscal year and will be 20 hours per week.

The Community Support Specialist (CSS) works under the direction of the Director of Housing Assistance Programs to provide service coordination and supportive counseling to the participants of the housing programs.

The Part Time Weekend Family Support Specialist (referred to as "Weekend FSS") will serve as a critical support for the Housing Response Team (HRT) Overflow Shelter and Atypical Shelter programs from 9am to 7pm Saturday and Sunday.

Key services to be provided include but are not limited to guidance and supportive counseling with life issues, assistance with issues of daily living, housing assistance, encouragement with goal attainment, encouragement with community involvement, and administering prescribed medication.

This position is under the general supervision of the Enhanced Supported Housing Program Director.  It has no supervisory responsibility.  The Community Support Specialist provides direct care services to adults with chronic mental illness living in a 24 hour Supported Housing facility, in the residential program.  The goal is to provide the individuals with support, training, and opportunities to help them gain skills and resources so they can eventually move on to a more independent setting.  The Community Support Specialist promotes values of individual choice and self-determination, foc

The Cook works under the direction of the Community Integrated Team Leader (CITL) to provide professional cook duties for Café Commons located at Wood Street Commons in Downtown Pittsburgh.  The Cook leads the kitchen team in meal preparation, delivery of food service and meals to residents of the building in a respectful manner, prepares all menu items according to quantity menu, and heats all foods to proper and safe temperatures.  The Cook follows appropriate cleaning, sanitizing of work areas and equipment maintenance according to State and County health regulations.
